AR-based Sampling in Mining

The mining sector is experiencing a significant transformation through the integration of state-of-the-art technologies, and a noteworthy advancement in this evolution is the adoption of Augmented Reality (AR) in sampling procedures. Conventional approaches to mineral and ore sampling frequently face challenges in achieving true randomness, leading to potential biases and inaccuracies. The AR-based sampling solution initiated since Jun 2021 implemented for the Department of Steel & Mines, Government of Odisha under the Integrated Mines & Minerals Management System (I3MS) framework introduces heightened precision and efficiency by overlaying digital guidance onto the physical mining environment in real time.

This AR-based sampling represents a world-first intervention, showcasing the transformative power of technology by improving transparency, accountability, and eliminating manipulation—even while functioning offline.

CSM Tech holds a pioneering patent for two algorithms, RADO and RGSL, that anonymise ore sample collection and testing to prevent tampering and undue influence on lab personnel. This patented technology, successfully deployed within Odisha’s I3MS ecosystem, marks one of India’s first fully automated and transparent ore sampling solutions.
