With cybercrimes against senior citizens on the rise across India, the Silver Age Foundation for Elders, supported by CSM Technologies, organized an insightful Cyber Safety for Elders Masterclass in Bhubaneswar. The session aimed to equip elders with the knowledge and tools to stay safe in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape.

The event witnessed participation from over 120 senior citizens from across Bhubaneswar, who engaged in interactive discussions on recognizing and preventing online threats such as phishing calls, UPI scams, and digital arrest frauds. Esteemed speakers, including Shri Arun Bothra, Additional Director General of Police, Odisha, and founder of India Cares Volunteers, emphasized that “awareness is the strongest defence” against cybercrime.

Leading the session was Shri Yogesh Sapkale, Deputy Editor at Moneylife Foundation, who educated participants on how scammers operate and demonstrated practical techniques for identifying fraud. His session, rich with real-life examples, helped simplify complex concepts of cybersecurity for senior citizens.

Speaking on CSM Technologies’ involvement, Ms. Lagna Panda, Director at CSM Technologies, said, “Our support under the CSR initiative reflects our commitment to digital inclusion. Through #Tech4Elders, we want to ensure our elders are not left behind in today’s digital revolution.”

A touching moment came when Ms. Swarna Chandra, a member of Silver Age Foundation, shared her personal experience of being scammed and how she recovered her funds with police assistance—reminding everyone of the importance of timely action and awareness.

Supported by Jindal Foundation, Jindal Steel, and Prelude Ventures, the masterclass concluded with a heartfelt performance by the Silver Age Choir and a thematic skit by Kalakar Theatre Group.

Together, Silver Age Foundation and CSM Technologies are demonstrating that technology, when paired with empathy and awareness, can empower every generation — ensuring that elders not only stay connected but also safe in the digital era.
