In the rapidly growing digital world, companies are feeling a rising urge to dive into IoT implementation. However, many industries lack the resources and skills required to architect, merge and sustain a related solution in their enterprise environment. To embark on the extensive strange world of IoT, organizations frequently turn to compose network services to obtain physical assets onto the Internet. Service providers carry over the chores of producing network infrastructure and managing devices and data.

IOT- The internet of things (IoT) is a set of technologies that use sensors and actuators to inform us about the status of everyday items such as vehicles, tools, and even living beings. It permits us to interact with them, promoting connectivity with platforms in the cloud that obtain and function data for posterior analysis. Hence, this examined data used to make decisions. In 2021, there were more than ten billion operational IoT devices. As per estimation, the number of active IoT devices will exceed 25.4 billion in 2030. By 2025, there will be 152,200 IoT devices connecting to the internet per minute. IoT solutions have the potential to generate $4-11 trillion in economic value by 2025 & 83% of organizations have enhanced their efficiency by orienting IoT technology.

Managed IoT connectivity services enable businesses and IoT providers to collect, analyze and interact with data streams, thus allowing businesses to monitor, manage and control (manually and through automation) assets associated with business processes. In addition, managed IoT connectivity services can cover IT infrastructure, operating technology (OT), software, network services, and IT services. The internet of things (IoT) managed services market was valued at USD 46.53 billion in 2020, and it is expected to reach a value of USD 158.75 billion by 2026 at a CAGR of 27.82%, during the forecast period (2021 - 2026).

Private 5G can enhance the scope and delivery of IoT services. For IoT services, private 5G can enable real-time deterministic use cases that were previously not possible due to lack of reliability, determinism, low latency, and high speed. The current performers in the IoT voice world are Amazon's Alexa Voice Service (AVS) Integration is a new feature of AWS IoT Core, Verizon by Vodafone, Apple's Siri, Microsoft's Cortana, and Google Assistant.

IoT devices have several sets of features that are listed below.

IoT Features:

  • Connectivity: This means developing a connection between various devices (or nodes) as they can communicate on their own.
  • Sensing: IoT devices gather information about their surroundings (such as temperature, light, sound, acceleration, and pressure) and then decide after exploring the data
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): The IoT devices and procedures are prepared with diverse machine learning models to understand the changes in their surroundings and serve better.
  • Security: Proper security and safety measures are implemented while designing an IoT system to prevent a possible breach of security.

Challenges:

  • Scalability: Billions of internet-enabled devices get connected in a huge network, and large volumes of data are needed to be processed. The system that stores and analyses the data from these IoT devices need to be scalable.
  • Interoperability: The technological criteria in most regions are even fragmented. These technologies need to be linked which helps us in launching a familiar framework and criterion for the IoT devices.
  • Safety of Patients: Most IoT devices are left inactive, as they are linked to real-world objects. If utilized on patients as wearable devices, any technical error in security can be life-threatening for the patient.
  • Security and Personal Privacy: There has been no research on security vulnerabilities and their improvements. It should ensure Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of the personal data of the patient.
  • Design Based Challenge: With the growth in technology design challenges are boosting at a faster rate. There have been problems regarding design like fixed analysis power, limited energy, and finite memory that need to be sorted out.

Benefits:

  • Monitoring: It enables you to bridge the gap between devices and businesses by collecting and analyzing diverse IoT data at a web-scale across connected devices, customers, and applications.
  • Ease of Access: By this, you can easily gain the required information in real-time, from (almost) any location you are at. It only carries a smart device and an internet connection.
  • Speedy Operation: All the data pouring in enables us to complete multiple tasks with amazing speed.
  • Better Time Management: Overall, it is a clever time-saving tool. We can look up the latest news on our phones during our daily commute, or check a blog about our favorite trends, online shopping, and many more.
  • Automation and Control: Due to physical objects being connected and controlled digitally & centrally with wireless technology structure, there is a huge amount of automation and control in the workings. Without human interference, the machines are communicating with each other delivering more secure and timely output.
  • Saving Money: If the cost of the tagging and monitoring machines is less compared with the amount of money saved, this is the reason for the IoT being very widely adopted.

CSM Expertise:

Facial Recognition:

CSM Tech has its own IoT lab where it has implemented an FR-based (facial recognition) application in the entrance with the help of Computer Vision. Also, CSM has partnered with the Government of Odisha and executed an electronic pass (E-Pass) in the Secretariat where this FR-Based web-enabled system authenticates the identity of the person to get entry inside the Secretariat.

Mining:

CSM uses the IoT (Internet of Things) devices for parking & check-gate automation, Core sampling randomization, and to detect the weight of minerals in mining to avoid Ore theft.

The Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System (i3MS) developed by CSM automatically identifies truck-specific details associated with the Permit and auto-fills and/or validates the weight that originated from the source. The system identifies the right time to capture the stable weight of the truck in i3MS without any human intervention.

CSM has implemented an unmanned IoT-enabled solution for achieving transparency in mineral production, sales & dispatch. Captured data is validated and is pushed into the i3MS system for generation/validation of the Transit Pass in real-time. Once the weighing process is completed, the Boom barrier and Traffic light at the exit end of the weighbridge is triggered and the truck is allowed to pass through.
