Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY)

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), out-of-pocket payments for healthcare expenses can be a significant burden for patients in low- and middle-income countries, which are often referred to as "third-world countries." Universal health coverage (UHC) guarantees better access to quality health services, protecting people from the financial consequences of paying for health services out of their own pockets. WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work aims to progressively cover 1 billion additional people, with a view of covering all people by 2030; stopping the rise and reversing the trend of catastrophic out-of-pocket health expenditure and eliminating impoverishment due to health-related expenses by 2030. This is why it’s crucial to strengthen the health systems for measurable health impacts in countries. And technology plays a vital role here, in making the system seamless, accessible, transparent and effective. The data tracked and saved helps in better planning and decision-making.
