AI Empowers Elders: CSM Tech Silver Age ...
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a powerful ally for senior citizens, enhancing independence, safety, and quality of life — experts shared during India’s first masterclass on AI for Elders, jointly organised by CSM Technologies. and Silver Age Foundation for Elders.
Leading the interactive session, Vivek Agrawal, Country Director at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, traced the evolution of AI and explained how it can empower elders to live independently by accessing information and essential services.
Pradyut Mohan Dash, Chief Technical Officer at CSM Tech, demonstrated practical use cases: from health and home security to entertainment and digital engagement. The session also offered tips on fact-checking, identifying deepfakes, and recognising phishing scams, helping seniors navigate the digital world safely.
Over 130 senior citizens from across India joined this guided journey into AI. Around 50% had already tried AI tools — most commonly ChatGPT — valued for its simplicity, utility, and companionship. Participants learned how AI can summarise news, draft emails, set medication reminders, and even offer friendly chats, quizzes, and memory games to combat loneliness.
A highlight was the Bhashini initiative, showcasing how elders contribute to India’s AI mission by supporting multilingual language data efforts.
Amar Jyoti Mahapatra, Co-founder of Silver Age, shared that the masterclass was inspired by seniors’ growing concern about being left out of the AI revolution. “Our next focus is to protect seniors from cybercrime,” added Lagna Pany, Chief People Officer at CSM Tech, announcing plans for future collaborative workshops.
The programme, coordinated by Sanjay Patnaik, CEO of Silver Age, successfully demystified AI concepts like machine learning, large language models, and generative AI, making them relatable and practical.
As part of its broader CSR mission, CSM Tech reaffirmed its commitment to digital inclusion:
“AI shouldn’t be just for the young — it should empower those who shaped our world,” said Dash.
By bridging generations with technology, the initiative reflects CSM Tech’s vision to build a more inclusive, connected, and compassionate digital society.
